To take another route, get off at the transfer stop at the corner of Northwest 79th Street and Northwest 7th Avenue. Check the schedules and stops before you travel.

Boarding assistance

Every bus has a wheelchair lift and two secured wheelchair positions. Drivers are trained to help with boarding. Ask the driver for help.

Bring what helps you get around.

Service animals, walkers, canes and strollers are welcome. Each shuttle seats 26 passengers, plus two wheelchair positions.

Where do the two routes go?

The 79th Street Connect (79ST) runs along NW 79th Street between the Tri-Rail transfer and NW 7th Avenue. The Uptown Express (7AV) runs north on NW 7th Avenue from NW 79th Street to the Golden Glades Multimodal Center.

Does the 79ST go places Metrobus doesn’t?

Yes. The 79ST leaves NW 79th Street to serve Gwen Cherry Park, Arcola Lakes Senior Center, the Village Flea Market & Mall and MLK Metrorail — destinations DTPW Metrobus doesn’t reach directly — giving the community a first and last mile to rail and everyday trips.

Can I ride in a wheelchair or scooter?

Yes. Every bus has a wheelchair lift and two ADA tie-down positions. The driver operates the lift and secures your chair.

Can I bring a service animal, walker or stroller?

Yes. Service animals, walkers, canes and strollers are welcome. Space is kept clear near the front door.

Do I need a smartphone or an app?

No. You do not need a smartphone or a RideKel profile to ride. Walk to any stop and board, or call the rider call center from October 9 for next-bus times and trip help.

Is the app available in Spanish or Haitian Creole?

Not yet — RideKel is currently available in English only. For help in Spanish or Haitian Creole, call the rider call center, which offers support and feedback in English, Spanish and Creole.

Are there cameras on the bus?

Yes. Every vehicle has interior cameras inside the bus for rider and driver safety.

How do I reach the call center?

The rider call center opens October 9; the phone number will be announced. The team can give next-bus times, help plan a trip and answer accessibility questions, in English, Spanish or Haitian Creole.

I left something on the bus. What do I do?

Report it in the RideKel app or call the rider call center. Share your route, direction and approximate time, and the team will help locate it.
